Moby Dick or The Whale

Herman Melville, an American novelist, wrote Moby-Dick; or, The Whale in 1851. The novel is the sailor Ishmael's story of the psychotic search of Ahab, captain of the whaling ship Pequod, for vengeance against Moby Dick, the huge white sperm whale that chewed off his leg during the ship's previous journey.

About Author: Herman Melville was an American author, short story writer, and poet during the American Renaissance era. His most well-known writings include Moby-Dick (1851), Typee (1846), a romanticised description of his experiences in Polynesia, and Billy Budd, Sailor, a novella published after his death. Melville was no longer well-known to the general public at the time of his death, but the centenary of his birth in 1919 marked the beginning of a Melville renaissance. Moby-Dick would eventually be recognised as one of the greatest American novels.
