E. M. Forster's novel A Room with a View, published in 1908, is about a young woman living in Edwardian-era England. The story, set in Italy and England, is both a romance and a hilarious criticism of early twentieth-century English society. Merchant Ivory made an award-winning film adaption in 1985.
